Minority

Maybe you have already felt the same way or maybe you have never thought about that before. Anyway I’ve heard the same thing from a lot of my friends so maybe it is popular who knows;

I remember when I was a child, I mean in primary school, we went to my city of origin (Kerman) two or three times per year to visit our relatives there. When I was in Kerman I tried not to have any words in the regional dialectic. On the other hand when I was at school in Tehran, the city I lived most of my life in, I used many words and phrases in that dialectic or sometimes even talked with the special accent of that area.

Time passed and now I have a chance to know many people from different countries living far away from their home towns in Europe. The interesting fact is most of them say that while they are here they want to act in a way to show that they are different. And of course when they go back for vacations or any other reasons they intend to show that they are different (in most cases better of course !)

An example is one of my Asian friend who, as she says, eats rice with spoon here where almost everyone eat that with fork and back in her country, where everybody eat rice with spoon, she eats it with fork simply to imply that “I am not like you, I’m used to act like this”.

What is that feeling? What make us wanting to be different?

Why do we like to be in minority??

BAM (Two) The Difference

A while ago I accidentally watched a program on one of European documentary channels about Bam. Most of Bam residence is still living in tents or caravans. The program was really touching showing, for instant, three sisters and brothers living with an old relative of their father in a really small tent with only basic facilities.

A young girl always speaking to her father’s photo about her daily issues or a lady who accepted the custody of five children but hardly can handle it, and so on.

After that program was finished I was so depressed that I can’t do anything for them, while thinking of that another program was started.
The program was about one celebrity and her dog!
Here is the story,
She was on board in a plane to another city and the crew did not accept her dog in First Class!! But why? Simply because the dog was not registered as a celebrity dog. So, the owner hired a limo with a driver, of course with white gloves, for thousand dollars to take the dog to destination!!
I am still thinking with that money how many people could repair their homes before the cold months of year come.
I know Bam disaster and follow it up because I am from that area but of course there are hundreds of situations like in Bam.

Why it’s like this, why some one can’t even think about a warm bed and enough clothes while another one do not know there might be a person in the world who does not have a Fendi purse!
